Our flagship tourism asset, the Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland, stands as a proud emblem of New Zealand’s incredible geothermal wonders.
The tourism park is located 30 minutes (30kms) south of Rotorua on State Highway 5 to Taupō. The park is considered to be NZ’s most colourful and diverse geothermal sightseeing attraction, extending over 18km2. The park is an icon of Aotearoa and a renowned geothermal tourist site nationally and globally, rated by Trip Advisor as ‘one of the most surreal places on earth’.
The park is operated by Nathan Maynard, Te Manu Taki (General Manager), and the amazing team. Through the park, we employ over 30 staff to support our aim of providing a unique and memorable experience for our national and international manuhiri (visitors). Te Arawa Holdings operates Waiotapu through a lease held with Ngāti Tahu Ngāti Whaoa.
Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland offers a world class geothermal experience. We are excited about building it back up as the premiere geothermal attraction in New Zealand, taking a lead role in the tourism recovery for Rotorua and New Zealand.
